Zeta Bar presents Stephane Pompougnac, 9th December

Zeta Bar Presents Stéphane Pompougnac For Launch Of Hotel Costes 8

Famed Parisian celebrity DJ releases latest album for one night only!

Keeping to the promise of bringing only the best to the shores of Kuala Lumpur, Zeta Bar, the purveyor of all things chic at Hilton Kuala Lumpur, is once again proud to bring to KL-ites an exclusive one night only performance this December 9th by Stéphane Pompougnac - from the highly acclaimed Hotel Costes album series.

Stéphane Pompougnac will be performing exclusively at Zeta Bar, for one night only in conjunction with the release of his new Hôtel Costes 8 compilation album.
The Hôtel Costes series is more than ever the ultimate reference in luxury and sophistication. And after seven volumes, the series is about to reach a new step with almost two million copies sold worldwide. For this eighth volume, Stephane Pompougnac has been inspired by eclectic tastes, and he gives us an impeccable and intimate mix of exclusive tracks in the pure spirit of Hôtel Costes which you can live up to at Zeta Bar for one night only.

Stéphane started his career at the Palace and Queen clubs in Paris, then moved to the more legendary Bains Douches, a spawning ground for many up-and-coming DJ’s looking to make a name for themselves in more opulent circles. Spotted here by Jean-Louis Costes, owner of the now well-known Hôtel Costes, Stéphane brought his influential style to the sumptuous surroundings of Paris’ most coveted celebrity stopover with the likes of the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Bruce Willis, Emma Bunton, Kylie Minogue and Craig David.

In 1999, the idea of a compilation mixed by Stéphane in the spirit of his spins at Hotel Costes was born. This one shot project soon became a full success series, bringing in a unique "à la française" vibe in music from countries and cultures as different as the UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Brazil.

Stéphane is also the A List’s choice of DJ by Nicole Kidman at Cannes for the release of "Moulin Rouge", performing at Cameron Diaz’s former restaurant in Miami, the Bamboo Bar as well as playing at the London premier of ‘Ali’. In between you might find him playing at Estella Warren's birthday party in New York, at Club Indochine in Zurich for Christy Turlington.

“Music is the heartbeat of Asia and Zeta Bar has always been in the centre of it. We take pride in our music and with a proven line-up brought to KL such as Jose Padilla, DJ Ravin and DJ cum singer Sonique throughout this year. What better way to end it then to feature the best there is and give you back the much anticipated Hotel Costes 8 album. Watch this space for next year’s line up as I promise it would definitely be show-stopping,” said Rocco Bova, Director of Studio.

Fresh from the recent successes with UK superstar and award-winning singer and DJ, Sonique, Buddha Bar Paris’s DJ Ravin and Café Del Mar’s Jose Padilla, expect to be seduced by this musical genius when he brings his influential style to Kuala Lumpur.

Entry is at RM120 nett with a glass of Chivas and RM90 nett for Zeta Bar members. For reservations and enquiries, please call 2264 2264. Zeta Bar is located at Level 5, Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

twelveSI presents Atmospherique: La Maison

twelveSI will celebrate its third anniversary this year with a massive 12-hour dance music party that will cost the entertainment club over RM1million to stage.

The project has been named “Atmosphérique: La Maison”, which is French for “Atmospheric: The House”, and will be held at The Mines Square Kuala Lumpur on 3rd December 2005.

The party will unlike any other outdoor celebration seen in KL, as “Atmosphérique” will boast plenty of extravagant costumes and a spectacular stage designed by newcomer Ameer Bachek.

Bachek will recreate an 18th-century “Moulin Rouge” environment with a theatrical “Van Helsing” temper. The stage and costumes alone are expected to cost RM100,000.

The designs are both Victorian and gothic; showcasing women in slinky bustier and laced dresses, men in tight pants and leather outfits, female can-can dancers and their male counterparts in Arabian Night garments.

Starting at 3pm on Saturday afternoon and ending at 3am on Sunday morning, the birthday bash will feature 11 regional club DJs and 3 international dance music acts.

Collectively, their music will run the gamut from chill house, to vocal house, to funky house, to tribal and techno, and finally to trance.

Among the regional acts are twelveSI’s resident DJs Jose, Hum, Love, WllyThKd, Bobby B, Joey G, Gregoire & Rommel, and special guest Donovan Tho a.k.a. Da Funkie Junkie.

They will headline the with global club stars Cosmic Gate from Germany and Romain BNO from the French superclub Respect Is Burning.

The entertainment line-up for “Atmosphérique” will also feature carnival performances from trapeze artistes, stilt walkers, ground and aerial acrobats, podium and silhouette dancers, Korean drummers, as well as pyrotechnics and fireworks.

8,000 tickets will go on sale from 15th November at RM90.00 each (with includes 4 standard drinks). These same tickets will be priced at RM120.00 at the door on the day of the event. ZoukOut Singapore 10th Dec 2005

"It is here again laaaa!!..."

The now annual festival of dance music returns for its fifth installation.

This year, ZoukOut will continue to stamp its authority on Siloso Beach, Sentosa. Zouk always manages to outdo itself year after year, and expectations are sky-high this time round. It is the time of the year, again.

Since its inauguration in 2000, ZoukOut has been singled out as the superlative event for big-name DJs to perform in this part of the world. It is also the day where the most discerning of clubbers congregate in one gargantuan party to celebrate dance music. Earlier this year, Zouk moved its outdoor party up north to Genting Highlands, in what was a pilot project in conjunction with Zouk Kuala Lumpur. And what an astounding success it has been. ZoukFest 2005 at Genting Highlands was simply sublime.

There is a new kid on the block in the club scene this year, a foreign kid named Ministry of Sound. The European club will announce its arrival with cannons blazing at a transformed Clarke Quay. In what is supposedly “the biggest MoS establishment worldwide”, the 40,000 square foot “superclub” with its frills will have only one thing in mind – to dethrone the imperious Zouk club. Furthermore, while still inchoate, it is official that Supperclub, the über cool and ultra modern venue, is soon to be opening its doors on our sunny island.

These foreign big names with even bigger reputations loom, and the onus is now on Zouk to pull something out of its proverbial bag to fend off what is going to be extremely stiff competition.
But ZoukOut will always have a special place in our hearts. The carnivalesque setup; the cacophony of dance music; the hordes of sweaty bodies in minimal attires; the humid weather; the pristine beaches of Sentosa; this is an event we can call our very own.

One can only expect the event to be another glorious affair in its fifth year running; a constant effulgence of all-encompassing sensory indulgence; an energetic celebration of life, as dance music segues throughout the night into day.

With the impending rivalry presented by the imminent big boys of the club market, the Zouk star will, in my opinion, continue to shine ever so brilliantly. What we can be certain of now, is that with the entrance of new players in the field, Zouk will most definitely up their game, and demonstrate to us why it is indeed a world class club.

ZoukOut will be staged at the newly upgraded Siloso Beach on Sentosa; where it was first held in 2000. For 12 hours from dusk till dawn (8pm – 8am); ZoukOut will transform the sandy landscape into a magical clubland with four stages featuring a broad spectrum of genres including house, tribal, progressive, techno, trance, electro, indie, hip hop and of course the very popular Mambo Jambo.

This year’s blockbuster line up features some of the biggest artists in the ever-growing field of electronic dance music today, including World Number #3 DJ Armin Van Buuren; Way Out West’s Nick Warren; Techno Wizard Sven Väth; Tribal house heroes Chus & Ceballos; House legend Lil’ Louie Vega of Masters At Work; Chart topping hit-maker Martin Solveig; Peter Kruder of Kruder and Dorfmeister fame, Stephane Pompougnac of the best-selling Hotel Costes CD series and pioneer of Hip Hop turntablism Cash Money. And in line with the healthy resurgence of alternative live music, ZoukOut hosts a live stage featuring local favourites like chart-topping Electrico & scene veterans Concave Scream, both with brand new material from their upcoming new albums; riot-rockin Ronin; the clown- rock jamboree that is Tiramisu; and new outfit, Slowjaxx Does Dallas made up of members from Stoned Revivals, Force Vomit and Moods.

Design collective Lichtfront VJ’s from Cologne Germany, will be responsible for the synchronized live visuals, their singular pursuit being the interpretation of sounds directly through images, reacting to the rhythms and feel of the music.

In addition to the stellar lineup of A-list foreign and local acts, there will be non-stop entertainment with free carnival rides, interactive action games, quirky palm & card readings, live art demonstrations, all amidst a plethora of 'out of this world' dancers and performers.

There will also be the return of ZoukOut’s partnership with the global festival of innovative moving image, RESFEST, for an exclusive screening of 90-minutes of the freshest cuts from this year’s stellar selection of features, short-films, motion graphics, animation and music videos from around the world as well as previously unscreened material.

And when it all seems too hectic, rejuvenating massages, make up and other goodies will be available to keep clubbers looking pristine at the coastline.

Cultural and language barriers aside, ZoukOut is THE dance festival that truly brings clubbers from all of Asia together under the common denominator of a feel-good, exuberant experience. It is this dynamism that has made ZoukOut the 'MUST GO' dance festival for tens of thousands of music fans from all over the region.

Armin van Buuren is a happy man, and with good reason. Holding firm at # 3 in the prestigious public-voted DJ Top 100. 2005 has brought two new significant awards (Best Radio Show, and Best Compilation for A State of Trance 2004 at the Miami Winter Music Conference Awards), and a stunning new artist album, Shivers, showcasing his debut as a songwriter.

Armin's Blue Fear, is a Sasha and Digweed staple, previewed his signature style: divine layering of sounds, lush chords and a continuous driving beat with that intangible added extra, the unique essence that sets quality tunes apart when you hear them in a set. His subsequent productions and remixes (too numerous to list here • chuck him into a google search if you’ve got a day to read the resulting titles…), include Communication, Sound Of Goodbye, Burned With Desire, Touch Me, Free, Wamdue Project’s King Of My Castle, Solid Sessions’ Janeiro, and Solar Stone’s 7 Cities, as well as high profile collaborations with his peers.

After four years of fronting his own weekly radio show, A State Of Trance, Armin signed a deal with The Radio Department (also home to John Digweed and Carl Cox's shows) to distribute it internationally. Now online and on fm stations, his website details who is already broadcasting it and the list is still growing.

Deep Dish @ Zouk Mainroom

Heineken Green Space

Grammy award winning DJ duo Deep Dish are two of the most well-known and respected artists/producers in electronic dance music today. Recently honored as Rolling Stone magazine's #2 pick for the year's "Best Dance/DJ Artist", Deep Dish is poised to continue where they left off following an exciting 2001. Ali 'Dubfire' Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi, the Washington, DC-based DJs known collectively as Deep Dish, first rose to prominence following the 1998 release of their groundbreaking debut album, Junk Science. Since then, the two have spent the bulk of their time trotting around the globe at the request of the world's most famous clubs. Characterized by diverse and unexpected grooves, Deep Dish continues to enjoy mainstream success and underground respect. In addition, DEEP DISH ranked #10 in DJ Magazine's (U.K.) Top 100 DJ's readers poll for 2001--a direct result of constant touring and well-attended residencies from 1015 in San Francisco to Buzz in D.C. to The End in London and beyond. This month, they set off on the second leg of a DJ tour in support of Global Underground.
Just as active in the studio as the DJ booth, Deep Dish has been called upon to employ their innovative remix style to hits by top artists such as The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson & Janet Jackson, Dido The Pet Shop Boys, and N-Sync. So it came as no surprise when Madonna decided to get in on the act by choosing the guys to remix the debut single from her latest album Music (Maverick). Resulting in an infectious dance floor hit, the reworked track won dozens of accolades, including a Grammy award nomination for "Best Remixer of the Year." Madonna was so pleased with their remix, she invited Deep Dish to warm up the crowd for her one-off North America live show at New York's Roseland Ballroom. Deep Dish won their first Grammy for "Best Remixed Recording" for their take on Dido's "Thank You!"

Jamfest 2005 Annual Music Festival

The Backyard Pub & Grill is proud to announce Jamfest2005, the second annual music festival
promoting young and upcoming bands alongside veteran musicians.

The fest kicks off this Thursday, Oct 20th and will be held over five Thursdays ending on November 17th.

Jamfest2005 will feature over 15 vibrant and dynamic bands on the local music scene including recently crowned grand champions for Astro Hitz.TV's Blast Off! competition Frequency Cannon, progressive rock band Tempered Mental, highly infectious fusion band Cosmic Funk Express, and cheeky electro-pop artiste Saer Ze.

Among the veterans sharing the limelight will be former Blues Gang members Julian Mokhtar and Jim Mandasamy together with drummer Suhaimi, formerly of Ella and the Boys, in a new band called Julian's Black Hammer; perennial slowhand Viji together with rising Maldivian guitar star Fasy; and rock and percussion act La Viva, featuring Alphonse Jerome.

"We are excited that this year's Jamfest will showcase some new and dynamic acts never before seen on our stage. This is a great venue for them to strut their stuff," said Jerry Chong, owner of Backyard Pub and organizer of the Jamfest2005.

"Backyard has always promoted homegrown musicians and we are proud to make this year's Jamfest equally memorable and entertaining."

Last year, Jamfest2004 attracted over 90 musicians and was held over seven weeks in October and November. The inaugural fest was in memory of late singer and guitarist Jairus Anthony, who played in pubs for over two decades but succumbed to pancreatic cancer in July 2004.

"We want to continue in the spirit of last year's event which is to encourage young and experienced musicians to come together at a single venue to perform and get the attention they deserve," said Edmund Anthony, the music director of the event and brother of Jairus.

He said all invited musicians were paid for their participation last year. "For some of the alternative and underground acts this was their first paying gigs and they never had such an appreciative audience."

"On the last night on Jamfest2004, an informal Jamfest fund was set up and RM13,720 in pledges was raised. The fund was disbursed to four deserving charities," said Anthony.

As usual in all Backyard events, there will be no reservations, no cover charge, no tickets, and of course no free loaders.

Motorola Private Sessions presents Inaya Day (Live PA), 17th Nov

She is a versatile songwriter, having co-written the first two singles from Randy Crawford’s album “Every Kind Of Mood”, one for the US charts and the other for the UK. Inaya also collaborated with Bootsy Collins to write tracks for his album “Fresh Outta P University”.

As a singer herself, Inaya Day has featured on hit singles by Missy Elliot, Sean P. Diddy Combs, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Bootsy Collins, Big Daddy Kane, Jonathan Butler, Randy Crawford and Michael Jackson, to name a few.

Inaya recorded the vocals for Mousse T’s famous dance floor hook “Horny” which topped the Billboard dance charts, and the Missy Elliot single “Gossip Folk” that was remixed by Mousse T.

She wrote and recorded the vocals for the club classic “I Just Can’t Get Enough” (produced by Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero) as well as the dance anthem “I Will” (for the Mongobonix project).

You can also hear her on DJ Mike Cruz’s “Movin’ Up”, another floor-filler she co-wrote that peaked at No.3 on the Billboard dance charts.

On her own, Inaya has landed on the Billboard dance charts with solo singles like the No.1 club hits “Can’t Stop Dancin’”, “Keep Pushin’” and “Hold Your Head Up High”.

Inaya Day has an amazing vocal talent, rivalling those of famous dance music vocalists Julie McKnight, Kathy Brown and Lisa Millet. Her music is at “the next level” and she is more than at home on stage. Watching her perform is an electrifying experience rarely found in today’s music industry.

This is proving to be her biggest year yet. She had a No.1 track on the club charts as a featured artiste with ATFC. She went to No. 1 in Australia as the vocalist on the Mr Timothy produced dance record “I Am Tha One”. And she had a Top 5 single in the UK charts with “Nasty Girl”, a remake of a Prince song originally done by Vanity 6.
Not one to rest on her success, the follow-ups to those hits is already released. Inaya’s new single is a collaboration with legendary club vocalist Barbara Tucker called “Do You Think Of Me”, and she has another exclusive Australian release as the featured singer on “The Glamorous Life” by T-Funk, a remake of the original 80s hit by Sheila E.

Motorola is pleased to announce a very special event happening next month featuring U.S. recording artiste and dance music star Inaya Day:

HED KANDI featuring StoneBridge @ Velvet Underground

The success of StoneBridge’s anthem “Put 'Em High”, garnered him a No 6 in the UK Top 40, No 1 in the dance charts and no end of rave reviews has only heightened expectations of what else StoneBridge might have stored in his tank. His first UK club hits were his own Jazzy John's Freestyle Dub and Ann Consuelo's See The Day in the early 90's, but it was with his remix of Robin S “Show Me Love”, which subsequently became StoneBridge's first UK top 10 and a worldwide hit 1993, that he moved on to become a major force. Other big remixes and productions followed like Robin S “Love For Love”, Chrissie Ward “Right & Exact”, Indo “R U Sleepin”, House of Virginism “There For You”, Shawn Christopher “Make My Love” and Donna Giles “And I'm Telling You”, just to mention a few. Yet when you're an internationally acclaimed DJ jetting between London's Pacha and El Divino in Ibiza, playing regular sets all over Europe, US and Russia, while running a house label from NY, remixing No 1 hits for the likes of Enrique Iglesias – “Escape” and Texas – “Inner Smile”; finding the time to make your first solo album as a producer can be hard. Luckily fate intervened and brought StoneBridge and ultra-hip UK dance label Hed Kandi together to produce one of the year's hottest and most critically acclaimed debut albums, Can't Get Enough, that not only consolidates the impeccable track record of both, but pushes the boundaries of their unquestionably high standards even further.

John Digweed @ Zouk Mainroom Brought to you by Recharge

John Digweed currently No 8 in the World DJ List, continues to stand as a reliable, steadfast pillar of dance floor excellence. He's consistently voted one of the top 10 international DJs in prestigious club culture publications such as DJ Magazine and Muzik. His resume of accomplishments makes his protégés swoon and his contemporaries nervous; among his many accomplishments are "For What You Dream Of” and "Heaven Scent". He also served as a resident at the northern club Renaissance during its early-to-mid nineties heyday. He was the first U.K. DJ (with Sasha) to hold a club residency in the U.S. Following on the heels of his and Sasha's groundbreaking Northern Exposure DJ mix series - the third volume, Expeditions, was released in the spring of 1999 to overwhelmingly positive response on both continents, Bedrock is a two-disc set that truly captures John Digweed at his best, and represents his unique signature style that's driven with his sexy and dark-funky twisted house to his relentless, hypnotic progressive trance. He's a talent whose appearances in locales such as Australia, Africa, and Asia are met with the same fervor and excitement they receive in Europe and America. And this DJ superstar continues to stay on the rise. John Digweed is a DJ's DJ.
