Once again, UNICEF & Zouk KL have tied up to promote the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Day. We invite you to show your support and join us as we launch this year’s campaign on the 1st July 2006. KEEP THE MUSIC CLEAN it’s a lifestyle, LIVE IT!
Being in the entertainment industry, Zouk KL is aware of the public’s perception of the industry especially the music industry. For Zouk KL, the campaign is initiated because of the Government’s concern on drug abuse in Malaysia and also the public’s assumption that the problem has everything to do with music, dance clubs or discotheques.
This year’s campaign will take a different approach than the year before. Instead of driving home the anti-drug message, we will initiate and introduce more ways of living the healthy lifestyle into this year’s campaign. This campaign is not not only to raise awareness and to educate the clubbers about the dangers and hazards of illegal usage of drugs but also the general public that dance music does not necessarily lead to drug consumption, nor do you need to consume drugs to enjoy music.
‘KEEP THE MUSIC CLEAN’ campaign is Zouk KL’s way of giving back to society as they believe they know how to educate their clubbers and patrons. By doing so, Zouk KL is also hopeful of trying to change the misconceptions and biases towards dance music and dance clubs.

Winner of the “Best American DJ” at the IDMA’s at WMC 2005, Christopher's production skills, coupled with his ability to take international dancefloors by storm with his tough techno trance sets, place him in high demand worldwide. Once an outsider in a world dominated by European and UK DJs, Lawrence has risen to the top of the international dance music heap. He is now considered one of the key global players and one America’s leading dance music exports, playing main stage at the world’s biggest festivals and superclubs. Christopher was the only US DJ invited to headline all three of the inaugural Ministry Of Sound, Cream and Gatecrasher tours of America.
In the late nineties, Christopher established himself as one of the US's biggest selling DJs selling over a quarter of a million mix CDs following a string of record breaking releases including 'Rise', 'Temptation', 'Christopher Lawrence Presents Hook Recordings’, ‘Empire’ And 'Around The World'.

Voodoo pres Yukun @ Zouk Mainroom
Yukun, known as one of Singapore’s pioneering progressive / trance DJ, launched his career at Session at Zouk Singapore. Since then the popularity and hype revolving around his name has rocketed sky high whilst DJing alongside stellar gods such as Hybrid, Paul van Dyk, Scott Bond, Above & Beyond, just to name a few. Besides being recognized and well-received by the local clubbing community for being the local “voice” of progressive / trance, Yukun has also been showcasing his other passion for “Cafe Del Mar-ish” pre/after hours music. In April 2006, he hosts his own weekly one-hour show (Private Reserve) and a monthly guest mix on Lush 99.5 FM.

Since hooking up with Dave Seaman and a sinister enclave of DJs and producers based in Maidenhead and Slough, Anthony Pappa plotted his takeover of the world. He struck a friendship up with engineer/producer Alan Bremner and together they formed Freefall: by day mild mannered janitors at the Daily Globe, by evening world beating dance music makers. Freefall was signed to Stress Records, where they released two singles. Their debut, 'Shrug', was followed by 'Skydive', a tougher-than-leather main room anthem that said, 'we're here, and we're not going until you've noticed us'. They were duly noticed. They have also, it should be noted, done a few remixes in their time, too, including Beloved's 'Sun Rising', though 'prolific' is not a word you'd associate with Freefall.
His Resolution mix album is Anthony's 7 th in his career so far, including ones for compatriots Mushroom and Stress. Pappa was also responsible for last year's acclaimed debut for Global Underground offshoot, Nu-Breed, which saw his face (not to mention blue jacket and brown eyebrows) splattered all over every available poster site in Britain.

Zouk Singapore’s Jeremy Boon @ Velvet Underground
With a vast music knowledge built on years of listening and playing, Zouk Singapore´s pioneer resident DJ has seen him mutate with the club through the different music phases that the club has experienced. Although his first love is the soulful side of House music, the early years were spent breaking new boundaries of dance music to the locals.
But it is with this experience over such an extensive repertoire that has given him a grounded foundation to pursue new goals in Velvet Underground, Singapore. Having taken up the Velvet residency since ´97 @ Zouk Singapore, he has developed his signature style into an eclectic mix of House music fused with afro, Latin, jazz, funk and soul. "I believe these are the basics that everyone will understand. It has and will always be around."
And having witnessed the Body & Soul vibe on a summer trip to New York, he is more inspired than ever to spread the gospel of House - those spiritual and soulful elements, the very roots of house music that we hear today.

Jon Kennedy specialises in heavy drum breaks, smooth up-beats and chilled down beats. His music is a fusion of break-beat and psychedelic to bossa nova and dub. His performance in KL will be with his live band, known as Jon Kennedy Assassin’s. Aisling Kelly is a vocalist with a unique and organic style, vocals and writing talent, are sincere and fresh as they come. Stephen Perret is a DJ with a multitude of releases, club residencies and has supported the likes of Portishead, DJ Q-Bert, Public Enemy, and DJ Craze. Benjamin Thomas, after being encouraged by Jon to pick up the bass and live the stage life, has gone on to play all around Europe with Jon Kennedy's live band.
